He was playing dice with fellow Migos member Quavo at around 2:30 am, according to TMZ. The victim's identification won't be released until the family has been notified, according to Houston police, who reported a gunshot overnight and found one individual deceased at the scene.
According to authorities, two other victims of shooting were driven to nearby hospitals in private automobiles.
TMZ reports that Quavo was unharmed.
Takeoff and Quavo were reportedly playing dice when "an altercation broke out and that's when someone opened fire, shooting Takeoff," according to the entertainment outlet.
Takeoff had uploaded a selfie from what seemed to be the bowling alley a few hours before the shooting.
Tuesday would be a closed day, according to the facility, 810 Billiards & Bowling.
As word of the passing circulated on social media, tributes started to pour in. Congressman Jamaal Bowman tweeted, "Sending love to Takeoff's loved ones. I'm over witnessing young Black men perish.
Takeoff, who was born on June 18, 1994, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, was most known for being a member of the group Migos with his uncle Quavo and his cousin Offset, who is now wed to Cardi B, another rapper.
"As a child, I tried to succeed in the music industry. In a 2017 interview with The Fader, Takeoff noted, "I was grinding, which was just what I enjoyed doing. Just creating and making something for myself.
"I was enjoying it for myself because it was what I enjoyed doing. I would wait for Quavo to return from football practise before playing him one of my tunes.
The Atlanta-based Migos gained notoriety because to Drake's remix of their wildly popular song "Versace" from 2013.
